  November and December events are consolidated into a single one on Thursday, December 5th at Libby's Hillview, downtown Sarasota.

  Happy Hour starts at 5pm and ends at 7pm. We'll have our own space adjacent to the bar. 

  Parking is available on the street or in the nearby parking areas. No cost to attend. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. 

  This event is open to alumni of Ivy League schools, along with their guests, who are currently active in the workforce and interested in professional networking. It offers a great opportunity to connect with local alumni in a relaxed, informal setting. Previous events have led to many valuable social and business connections.    Break from the Club's tradition of speaker anchored luncheons and enjoy one of Michael's on East's superb luncheons, be delighted by a piano player, be entertained and sing along with Achilles and the Three Heels and be charmed by a surprise visitor - all in the presence of your fellow CCSM members. 

  Come join us for an afternoon of goodwill and companionship.  Achilles and the Three Heels is part of the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys with none other than our own Jeffry Olesen, we are delighted they have agreed to entertain us.

  Explore the Rich Legacy of the Sarasota School of Architecture

  This is a two for one event!! You won't want to miss this MEMBERS ONLY special event!

  Fresh off his widely popular introduction to the Sarasota School of Architecture at the Cornell Club’s March 2024 luncheon, Marty Hylton, Architecture Sarasota’s President, will offer us a tour of two mid-century Modern masterpieces.

  
  

  We will begin our day at the McCulloch Pavilion, a beautifully restored example of mid-century Modern commercial architecture. Marty will share the interesting history of the building and its restoration, then guide us through the “Moderns that Matter, Sarasota 100” exhibition. 

  We will then drive to Lido Shores to tour the magnificent Umbrella House designed by Paul Rudolph. The Umbrella House has been described by Architectural Digest as “one of the five most remarkable houses of the mid-twentieth century.”

  Evening of Spanish Music with Grammy Winner Jason Vieaux

  Take a romantic Spanish journey through music presented by members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Grammy-award winning guitar virtuoso and Sarasota favorite, Jason Vieaux, headlines an ensemble of piano, voice and strings, with works by Sarasate, Rodrigo and Albeniz, among others at the Performing Arts Center at Riverview High School.

  Behind the Scenes at Mote Aquaculture Research Park
  

  Wow, did you know there is another whole side of Mote to learn about?!  The Mote Aquaculture Park (MAP) was constructed in 2001 to pioneer the development of sustainable aquaculture technology to help feed the world!  Also to restock depleted species and address the need to develop a viable domestic aquaculture industry in the US.

  

  This is an exclusive tour just for our Cornell Club! You will see the Coral Gene bank, the Crab hatchery, Red Tide research initiative and so much more.  Put on your walking shoes and let's go!

  This event is following our March 12th (Wednesday) luncheon with guest speaker Dr. Michael Crosby, President of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium.

  We will head out to lunch following the tour.  TBD

  Explore the Rich Legacy of the Sarasota Celery Fields: Birds, Butterflies and Blossoms

  The Celery Fields were created in the 1920's by the Palmer Group and now serve as an active and vital natural resource and water management center for our county. Over 246 species of birds have been observed there!  It's time to explore!

  

  Join us for a guided tour of the fields, Audubon Nature Center, and the birding boardwalk.  We will meet and speak with Sarasota Audubon experts to learn more about the numerous varieties of birds and wildlife that make this magnificent marshland their home.  It is a major breeding ground and winter home for many species.

  Join us afterwards for an optional self-funded lunch in the original Chickee Hut at Stottlemyer's Smokehouse circa 1955.
