What is their history, their core beliefs, and why Sarasota and Pinecraft?
Every winter hundreds of Amish and Mennonites, often referred to as Plain People, come to Sarasota, many settling in Pinecraft, others scatter throughout the County.
But there are many Mennonites who live here year around. What contributions have they made to the area, and what does the future look like for them as a people of faith?
JB Miller, our presenter, grew up in Pinecraft and is a life-long Mennonite. He teaches classes about Mennonites and Amish through the Adult Community Enrichment program of Sarasota County Schools and has been an adjunct instructor at New College of Florida.
For the December luncheon, we thought we’d try something new to raise awareness & money for the CCSM Scholarship Fund administered by Cornell. 50/50 raffle!
For every dollar you give, 50% will go to the winner of the raffle and 50% will go to the scholarship fund. Tickets will be priced at $10 for one ticket and $20 for three tickets. Please remember to bring cash if you are interested in participating in the 50/50 raffle.
Menu Choices:
Hot: Mediterranean Grilled Salmon with Crispy Artichoke, Roasted Red Pepper, Wild Mushroom & Kalamata Olive with Olive Oil, White Wine & Basil
Cold/Salad: ‘Cuban Style’ Salad: Assorted lettuces, Sliced Green Olives, Chopped Tomatoes, Julienned Slices of Smoked Ham & Turkey, Shredded Swiss & Parmesan tossed in a Garlic Oregano Vinaigrette
Vegan: Tikka Masala (tofu and vegetables with a coconut sauce) served over Basmati Rice with Naan Bread
Dessert: Profiteroles! Miniature Cream Puffs filled with Homemade Macadamia Crunch Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce & Whipped Cream. Note: You can request a fruit cup as an alternative the day of the event from your server.

Your luncheon includes a choice of hot, cold or vegan entree, coffee and dessert or fruit. A cash bar is available for the enjoyment of our members and guests.

- Gratuity is included in price of meal
- Cancellation with instant refund up to 5 days prior to the event if you cancel it yourself after log in. If you ask ccsm.resv@gmail.com to cancel, it will be a credit towards next event/membership.
- We are unable to offer a refund after Monday prior.
