Cancelled: Newtown Community and the Pandemic.

Challenges and opportunities during the hardships of Covid-19.

Panelists of local Newtown leaders and Mr. Walter Gilbert III of Newtown Alive

The African American community in the Newtown area of Sarasota has been severely impacted by the pandemic. Within the community people have banded together. Hear about how they have reacted to the events of the past year and provide support to the community. Listen to a panel of local stewards discuss the “real” issues of the health and economic hardships of 2020 and how the Newtown community responded to help.  Walter Gilbert III, a long time resident of Newtown and active in bringing the community together to address issues, will lead the panel. Vicki Oldham of Newtown Alive will be joining him. Additional information and history of Newtown can be found at NewtownAlive.org.
