  • Come and learn more about the critical restoration project. It is very unique yet global project

Do you have a dock that could use some pizzazz? Try adding an Oyster Garden!

They may not be soft and cuddly, but they need homes! Come and learn first hand the importance of oysters in saving our bay waters and marine life. Oysters provide critical filtering systems for our waters. Hard barriers like seawalls etc prevent oysters from nesting.  A new device the Vertical Oyster Garden uses recycled shells to attract oysters and other sea-life. It is a fascinating new way to garden!!

Did you know oysters are a unique estuarine habitat offering the following benefits and attributes:

  • Water filtering capacity

  • Substrate for fish and other fauna

  • Fishing opportunities

  • Sediment stabilization

Learn more about these projects that help restore the natural oyster beds that were destroyed in the 1960's.

DATE in late February TBD!
